Monday, August 29th, 1955: Hank Thompson Will Miss 6 Weeks
Medical officials from the Philadelphia Phillies reported that the club's 29-year-old second baseman, Hank Thompson, suffered a damaged meniscus in yesterday's matchup against the Chicago (N) Cubs while colliding with a player at a base. Thompson is expected to miss 6 weeks of action.

This season Thompson is hitting at a .227 pace with 7 home runs, 37 RBIs and has scored 44 times.
Monday, August 29th, 1955: Indians Keriazakos Blanks New York (A)
Gus Keriazakos of the Cleveland Indians gave the Yankees a steady diet of fine pitches and he walked off the mound with a complete game shutout. He blanked them 1-0 on 3 hits with a total of 3 strikeouts and 3 walks.

The Cleveland manager said, "Keriazakos was on quite a roll. He gets great late movement and he doesn't give in to the hitters."

In 1955 Keriazakos has fashioned a 18-12 mark, 2.47 ERA and pitched 265.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .216 against him and he has logged 145 strikeouts.
Monday, August 29th, 1955: NL Trophy Goes to Burgess of Milwaukee
Smoky Burgess did nothing to hurt his value as an upcoming free agent last week, making contact with the ball at every opportunity and reeling in the National League Player of the Week Award.

The catcher hit .545 for the Braves, recording 12 hits in 22 at-bats, 2 home runs, 6 RBIs and 5 runs scored.

In 1955, Burgess is hitting .335 with 20 home runs and 79 RBIs in 112 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .388 with 45 walks and 82 runs scored.
