 | Monday, April 30th, 1962: Star of the Week Awarded in AL At the age of 28, Willie Kirkland might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Chicago (A) right fielder put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days collecting the American League Player of the Week Award. He racked up 14 hits in 21 at-bats, 2 home runs and 7 RBIs last week in 5 games. So far this season Kirkland has hit .354 with 7 home runs, 29 RBIs and and scored 22 times. |
