Wednesday, April 15th, 1964: The Philadelphia Phillies were dealt a severe blow when Lew Krausse was hurt throwing a pitch recently in a game against the Cincinnati Reds. After the game, the team trainer reported Krausse might have to spend a lengthy time on the disabled list. Today doctors confirmed it, ruling the 20-year-old starting pitcher out for the rest of the season with a damaged elbow ligament. They indicated it would take Krausse at least 13 months to heal.
