Monday, September 21st, 1959: Mueller Hits .340 to Earn NL Crown
The end of the baseball season brings with it a bevy of awards. The latest went to Don Mueller, the 1959 National League batting champion. For the year, the Reds left fielder posted a .340 batting average. His 159 base hits included 17 doubles, 6 triples, and 20 home runs. Additionally, Mueller scored 77 times and knocked in 54 runs.
