| Breaking News |  | Sunday, March 4th, 1962: Cubs Bronstad Will Miss Season
Jim Bronstad has to call it a season. The Chicago (N) Cubs reliever sustained a season-ending injury against the Philadelphia Phillies and will not play again this year according to club doctors. Bronstad was injured while throwing the ball. His doctors diagnosed it as a herniated disc and stated that he would not be able to play for 10-11 months.

 | Wednesday, August 30th, 1961: Cubs Regan to Miss Year
The doctors have spoken and Phil Regan of the Chicago (N) Cubs didn't like what he heard. The 24-year-old reliever is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Regan sustained his season-ending injury during the Pittsburgh Pirates game yesterday at Wrigley Field. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Chicago (N) medical staff reported Regan had a ruptured bicep tendon and would be absent from the lineup for at least 7-8 months.
To date this year Regan has won 9 and lost 8 with a 3.37 ERA, no saves and 115 strikeouts in 1 relief appearance.

Evelio Hernandez has to call it a season. The Chicago (N) Cubs closer sustained a season-ending injury against the Los Angeles Dodgers and will not play again this year according to club doctors. Hernandez was injured while throwing a pitch. His doctors diagnosed it as a herniated disc and stated that he would not be able to play for 2 months.
To date in 1961 Hernandez has 8 saves with a 3-3 mark and 3.57 ERA. Opposing teams are hitting .243 against him.
