Tuesday, May 1st, 1962: American League Names Rookie of Month
Dave Nicholson earned April's Rookie of the Month honors in the American League for last month's performance. The boyish New York (A) left fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Nicholson hit .265 with 5 home runs, 20 RBIs and 17 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

Tuesday, May 1st, 1962: Pitcher of the Month Named in AL
The Pitcher of the Month has been chosen and the American League trophy went to New York (A) hurler, Art Ceccarelli.

During the month, Ceccarelli was impressive with a 1.36 ERA and 3 wins and no losses. In 46.1 innings he struck out 26 and gave up 33 hits and 11 walks.

Wednesday, April 18th, 1962: It's Official: MR Brickner Signs with Yankees
The New York (A) Yankees have called a press conference later today to announce the signing of reliever Ralph Brickner to a 1-year, $4,740,000 contract.

Both Brickner and the Yankees are said to be very pleased to come to this agreement.
