Monday, April 30th, 1962: Star of the Week Awarded in AL
At the age of 28, Willie Kirkland might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Chicago (A) right fielder put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days collecting the American League Player of the Week Award.

He racked up 14 hits in 21 at-bats, 2 home runs and 7 RBIs last week in 5 games.

So far this season Kirkland has hit .354 with 7 home runs, 29 RBIs and and scored 22 times.
Tuesday, April 24th, 1962: Hazle Sizzles -- Smokes White Sox for 5 Hits
It was a great day at the plate for Bob Hazle of the Detroit Tigers. He collected 5 hits in 6 tries, but his club still came up short in the win column. The Chicago (A) White Sox racked up the victory, topping the Tigers by the score of 7-6.

B. Hazle singled in the 1st, doubled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th, doubled in the 9th and singled in the 12th.

This year Hazle has collected a .353 batting average to date with 24 hits in 68 at-bats, 10 RBIs, 3 home runs and scored 10 times. He has played in 21 games.
Monday, April 16th, 1962: Romano Week's Top Player
His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Johnny Romano was rewarded with the American League Player of the Week honors.

The scrappy Chicago (A) White Sox catcher hit .611 while collecting 11 hits in 18 at-bats, 3 home runs and 8 RBIs.
