Tuesday, May 1st, 1962: Williams Top Hitter in AL in April
Billy Williams, the Cleveland left fielder, had a productive month in April. He put up some solid numbers with a .352 batting average (37 for 105), 8 home runs, 25 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

That standout offense earned him the American League Batter of the Month Trophy.

Monday, April 23rd, 1962: Williams Week's Best in AL
One of the league's most exciting young players, Billy Williams of the Cleveland Indians earned himself American League Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games.

For the week the 23-year-old left fielder had a lofty .444 average (12-27), collecting 4 home runs, 11 RBIs and 9 runs scored.

To date this year Williams is batting .346 with 6 home runs.
Sunday, April 22nd, 1962: Cleveland Loses Robertson, Will Miss Season
The season is ending on a bad note for Jim Robertson, catcher for the Cleveland Indians. It was announced today that he will miss the rest of the season because of injury. Robertson was hurt against the New York (A) Yankees while being hit by a pitch. He suffered a fractured cheekbone and will be out for at least 12-13 months.

This season Robertson has no home runs and a .167 batting average.
